Donation Refund Policy

Effective date: August 25, 2025

Millie’s Gift, Inc. (“Millie’s Gift,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is grateful for your support. We work hard to honor donor intent and process gifts accurately. If you believe your donation was made in error, was unauthorized, or has another issue, please contact us. We will review refund requests in a timely and fair manner.

How to request a refund

Email donations@milliesgift.org within 15 days of your donation and include:

  • Your full name and email used for the gift
  • Donation amount and date
  • Payment method (Stripe card, ACH, PayPal, check)
  • Transaction ID from your receipt, if available
  • A brief description of the issue (duplicate charge, wrong amount, unauthorized, etc.)

Refund window

We generally consider refund requests made within 15 days of the donation date. Requests after 15 days will be reviewed case by case.

What can be refunded

  • Duplicate or erroneous donations will be refunded upon verification.
  • Unauthorized transactions will be investigated and refunded as appropriate.
  • Recurring gifts can be canceled at any time. If a recent charge was unintended, we can refund the most recent installment upon request.

What usually cannot be refunded

  • Donor-advised fund (DAF) grants and foundation grants are not refundable to the recommending donor. Please contact your DAF sponsor for guidance.
  • Stock or crypto gifts (when enabled) are not refundable once liquidated. We can issue a correction letter if needed.
  • In-kind donations and event sponsorships are generally not refundable after benefits have been delivered.

Refund method and timing

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible. For checks, we issue a check to the original donor name and address.
  • Please allow 5 to 10 business days for the refund to appear after approval. Bank processing times vary.

Processing fees

We strive to refund the full donation amount. Some processors do not return their fees to charities when a refund is issued. If fees are not returned to us, your refund may be the net amount received. If you need a full amount refund for a specific reason, please note this in your request and we will review.

Tax receipts and acknowledgments

If you receive a refund, your original tax receipt is no longer valid. We will issue a revised receipt reflecting the corrected amount. Please consult your tax advisor regarding any previously filed deductions.

Tribute and honoree notifications

If your donation included a tribute notification, we cannot retract messages already sent. We will update our internal records to reflect the refund.

Chargebacks

If you have filed a chargeback with your bank or card issuer, please also email donations@milliesgift.org so we can assist quickly. Resolving directly with us is often faster.
